iPhone Error 14
Customers attempting to update their iPhones that are “low on memory” will encounter a boot loop condition (Apple logo for a few minutes, then black screen for a few seconds, repeating forever). When they attempt a recovery iOS update this fails with error 14.
The iPhone has an embedded encryption algorithm unique to your device/OS and its stored data. Once this area of the OS becomes corrupt then the algorithm key to your data is unfortunately lost and from a data recovery perspective, unless you have an available icloud back-up, this is currently game over.
Here at Datlabs we receive a relatively large number of calls from customers who are locked out of iPhones exhibiting Error Code 14.
What causes iPhone Error 14?
An Error 14 is output by the device operating system when there is not enough memory capacity is available to complete a particularly operation such as a download or an update.
Usually this is part way through an OS update and the OS has been corrupted.
A precursor to the failed operation message Error 14 is a notification that “Storage Almost Full” This is your opportunity to ensure the future integrity of your phone. (My device integrity should never be compromised ? damn right it has to be a cock-up)
This is prompting you free up some space by backing up data and deleting data items from the local storage. Best way to do this is to upload your important data items from the iPhone to a local PC. and then delete from your icloud. You can also delete few unimportant Apps.
This will free up enough storage space for your necessary pending iphone update and will stop the “Storage Almost Full” message”
If you don’t take the opportunity to free up memory then the required update will fail and the phone will hang. As you make attempts to restore the iPhone will get into a continuous boot loop and you will see the Error 14 code.
